    Climate Change?  We can’t pretend it isn’t happening, and should invest accordingly.

    A heatwave in London is unbearable – and we’re about to experience the third of this long, hot, summer. Elsewhere, increasingly chaotic climate events are triggering unpredictable weather disasters – including the tragic floods that hit Texas. We can’t deny the threat – but we can mitigate the effects if we acknowledge the threat is real, and invest accordingly.

    West Cumbria Mining has upset the Green Lobby, but it’s a triumph of pragmatism over virtue signalling. We should be more concerned at the implications of US Fund Vanguard pulling out of an asset management alliance focused on slashing emissions. However, the reality is the Global Economy is poised for growth driven by climate change mitigation and renewable energy!

    The UK attracted a record £137 bln order book for its £10 bln Green Gilt. But what does the Green Gilt achieve? Its marketing puff. It may disguise how ill-considered and ultimately self-defeating the Government’s rush to looking green has been. No matter how well intentioned a Green Gilt is – its style over substance, papering over the cracks in a confused and contradictory long-term climate-change mitigation strategy.
