The Age of Steam was perhaps the most influential technological paradigm shift since the innovation of agriculture. Railways and Steam Ships made the World smaller and fostered global growth and industrial innovation – leading to where we are today, perhaps on the cusp of the next big leap forward; AI technologies (although I would argue they are just the evolution of computing!)

I feel sorry for Sir Keir Starmer. He’s become the UK’s most hated politician in a remarkably short period of time. It’s apparently all his fault. Labour’s dither illustrates the real crisis at the heart of broken Britain: long-term fixes for incoherent privately-owned infrastructure when politics focuses on the immediate here and now.

I have worked in finance for nearly 40 years. I have withstood phycotic managers, overcome multiple business hurdles, survived a major health scare and triumphed as a small firm guy against big vested interests.. but I am pretty sure it will British Railways that will put me in a box.
